Acces to the city

The airport of Madrid-Barajas Adolfo Suarez is one of the five largest in Europe. The main Spanish airport, with nearly 50 million passengers per year, more than 400,000 operations and 300,000 tons of goods, is thirteen kilometers away from the heart of the city, Puerta del Sol. In the airport, the main international and national airlines operate.

Access:

• By road, via A-1 (Madrid-Burgos) exit 17 direction airport, via A-2 (Barcelona) exit 12 direction airport, or via M-40 (ring road) exits 3 and 9, connected to the M-11 and M-14.
• By bus, using the Barajas Airport Express Line (24 hour a day, 365 days a year). At night, the service finishes in Plaza de Cibeles, where you can connect with the night local bus network of EMT.
• If you prefer the underground, Line 8 (Nuevos Ministerios-Barajas) brings you directly from the airport to the city center.
• By train, the regional trains of RENFE (Spanish railways) arrive at airport Terminal T4 from Chamartín and Atocha railway stations. From the regional trains you can access long-distance trains and AVE.
• TAXI, you can find Taxi´s stops easily at the main airport exits. A fix rate of 30€ per service is set from the airport to any part in the city center.

The high-speed train service in Madrid connects 11 Spanish cities and 6 French ones through seven AVE lines that provide services of high quality: Valladolid, Barcelona, Sevilla, Malaga, Valencia, Lleida and Huesca, with stops in Toledo, Ciudad Real, Puertollano, Córdoba, Guadalajara, Calatayud and Zaragoza. Also with the French cities of Carcassonne, Lyon, Marseille, Nimes, Paris and Toulouse. The quality of their service is excellent.
RENFE (the national railway company) give passenger transport and goods services throughout Spain. The Neighboring countries, Portugal and France, and all EU countries are also connected to Madrid by rail.
If you arrive at Chamartin Station, Nuevos Ministerios, or Atocha you can easily take a taxi, bus network or the underground to move to any part of the city. You can download the underground map at www.metromadrid.es.
