8th Annual Meeting, Denmark 2014

The 8th Annual Meeting was held 23-25 September in Copenhagen, Denmark, hosted by DTU Vet, and was a success, as previous highly successful EPIZONE meetings, with extensive opportunities for networking, scientific exchange and fostering collaborations.

Primed for tomorrow

The meeting was entitled: "Primed for tomorrow" and addressed the latest developments aimed at monitoring and understanding the evolution, emergence, transmission and spread of epizootic viruses. The focus was on the EPIZONE themes aimed at improved disease control through integration and collaboration of research in diagnosis, intervention strategies, risk assessment, surveillance and epidemiology.

Scientific programme

The stimulating scientific programme was provided by invited speakers and selected poster and oral presentations describing recent research on epizootic diseases of cattle, pigs, poultry, sheep, goats, fish and horses.

EPIZONE Coordinator Wim van der Poel was very pleased with the meeting: "I think the meeting was very well-organized and I have received a lot of positive feed-back from the delegates. Thanks to DTU Vet we look back on a very successful EPIZONE event in Copenhagen!"

Anette Bøtner, Head of the Organizing Committee and Deputy Head of Section for Diagnostics and Scientific Advice at DTU Vet: "We have talked to a lot of happy participants, who enjoyed the many good presentations and posters, but also the lively scientific discussions between the presentations and during the breaks. So also a big thank you to all the presenters and delegates."

Young EPIZONE

Tuesday, Sept 23rd, around 30 participated in the Young EPIZONE meeting, where they were informed how to network and learned to communicate with the press. This took place at the DTU Vet institute, where in the evening the welcome reception was held also.
